Packaging
We wish that our confections could go straight from our sheet pans to your hand, but to preserve their integrity, they must be enveloped in packaging. Our products have a 2-6 week shelf-life, and we are making every effort to use packaging that will neither outlast our confections by millennia nor inflict undue harm to the environment.
We try to use eco-friendly packaging -- and even so, as little as possible. And we ask that that you try to reuse our packaging for your own packaging needs. We reuse packaging shipped to us, as well.
Our packaging is a process and we are proud of our efforts so far, but it is a complicated arena, involving issues such as energy consumption, sustainability, and much more. Newly developed products and information are becoming more available now, and we will never stop looking for ways to responsibly deliver our confections to you.

We use cellophane to wrap each individual bar and our marshmallows. It is made from the cellulose in wood fiber, and it is naturally biodegradable, usually within about 4 months of being buried. Plus, it allows you to see the delicious treats inside.
Our candy boxes are 100% recycled and contain recycled boxboard. They are natural Kraft color in order to use less ink and energy, and they are made in the USA.
Our candy boxes are wrapped with a band of Lokta paper instead of ribbon. Lokta paper is handmade and hand-dyed in Nepal using traditional, sustainable methods. It is durable and beautiful, and deserves to be reused, perhaps as a bookmark.
Our tissue paper is made from 100% recycled fibers.
We use a variety of fillers in our boxes, depending on the situation. We use starch-based biodegradable peanuts, reused styrofoam peanuts, reused bubble wrap, and unprinted newspaper.
